impressive facade of the building is a local landmark.
The
current owners' great grandfather recorded in
his diary the reconstruction of the building in
1886 - when the roof was taken off the original
building and an extra floor was added and then
this frontage was also added. |

Hotel information:
Built
in 1886 as a “show house” for Turnbull,
the builders, Whitie’s is a fine example
of a Victorian upper villa townhouse – situated
above a very popular bookshop and a long established
family newsagents – the interiors fixtures
have remained virtually unchanged since new.
Behind it’s famous stained glass windows
hides a jewel of a home with original pitched
pine woodwork and original “lincrusta”
dado papers, high, ornate cornicing in the public
rooms denotes fruit and flowers and acanthus
leaves.
Tastefully
decorated, the bedrooms (all on the second floor)
have stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
They are simply furnished with double or twin
beds, en-suite shower rooms, full tea and coffee
making facilities. Rooms also have LCD TV’s
and DVD/VCR/CD players and there is a selection
of videos available for guests use.
Due to the nature of the building we regret
that we are unable to welcome pets.
