The Snug
The Snug is a small room where any crafter or bookworm can bring their crafts or book and sit and have a chat or pass on knowledge or just enjoy a bit of like-minded company!
the hope is that people will use this room to pass on information and knowledge in an informal and friendly way.
The fireplace makes this a warm and comfortable place to be. | |
Relocation

Since leaving the old building we have had a fantastic break and have now relocated to our new, light and airy premises at the east end of the High Street; Down the close behind the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Douglas has a large stock of up to date titles alongside old favourites and anything not actually in stock can be ordered and will usually be with us in 24 hours.
Sheila is now happily ensconced in her haberdashery and craftsarea where you can buy anything from a pack of nappy pins to a tapestry kit or paints - Acrylic & Watercolours - card making equipment or knitting wool and pins. |

History

History of Pennel's Close
Many years ago George Pennel opened his cycle shop in this building and there after he supplied bikes to several generations of cyclists both locally and throughout Scotland.
The courtyard is owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland and was originally part of the ground occupied by Wilson Syme Bakers & Tearoom which was demolished in the late 70s to allow the building of the new bank.
